WESTS 14 OBU 15
Wests Roosters 14 (Chris Eves try – A Newson 3 pen) OBU 15
Best and fairest: 3 points: Sam Blair, Wests No. 8; 2 points: Chris Eves, Wests captain & prop ; 1 point: Thomas Donaldson, Wests first-five.
What happened: The Roosters in a huge effort against their more fancied opponents, playing with passion and pride. After a resurgent 2nd half, the Roosters turned an 0-8 deficit into a 14-8 lead with minutes remaining. No. 8 Sam Blair was prominent in the tight exchanges along with captain Chris Eves, and first five Thomas Donaldson ensured OBU were consistently under pressure in their own half. Prop Andrew Newson was ensuring the boys efforts were rewarded, with another clinical goal kicking performance in converting 3 penalties. The Roosters almost had the game won until a late converted try through the ruck closed the score to 14-13 and OBU slotted the conversion for a one-point lead. A desperate late attacking flurry from Wests continued in the last play before the rub of the green went against them and OBU managed to boot the ball out with the last act of play to win the semi-final. While that brings the Premier's season 2012 to an end, the Roosters can look back with pride on their efforts in the final part of the season and on a creating strong base to build on for next season. Big thanks to the Premier boys and their coaching/management team Jason Adamson, Katsu Takeuchi, Wayne Eathorne, & Adrian Blair for their huge efforts this season.
Star turn: Loose forward Sam Blair's return performance from a knee injury was great, with strong ball carrying and physicality in defence.
